The Credit Counseling Session
Our nationally certified credit counselors have the experience, compassion and desire to help you succeed with your financial goals. They know that each individual faces a different set of circumstances. Your credit counselor will take the time to listen and help you make the choices that are right for you.
Bring the following information with you.
- Current statements from your creditors: If you do not have your creditor information on hand, we can make arrangements to have a copy of your credit report pulled so that our counselors can review it with you.
- Current paycheck or an estimate of your monthly income
- A list of your monthly expenses (rent, utilities, food, etc.) and how much you spend on each
We help you prepare a monthly budget that you can live with.
You will work with your counselor to itemize your monthly income and living expenses. Your credit counselor will then discuss recommended income and spending changes to help you make ends meet.
Learn about our debt management programs.
Your credit counselor will discuss the financial benefits of our programs. By the end of the session, you will know exactly how much you will save in interest by repaying your debts with our program.
We'll discuss other options for paying off debts
If our debt management program is not right for you, your counselor can provide other credit counseling services including bankruptcy counseling, housing counseling, reverse mortgage counseling, and foreclosure prevention counseling. Feel free to talk openly with your counselor about your financial situation. You can feel confident that your personal and financial information will be kept confidential.
